The requirement of manpower in Nationalised Banks, interalia, depends upon the business volume, business growth, existing employee strength, retirements, etc. Accordingly, the Banks undertake recruitment of staff, including clerks and sub-staff, to fill vacancies on ongoing basis as per their requirements. There is no classification as group 3 and 4 in PSBs. A Statement showing vacant posts in Nationalised Bank as on 31.03.2012 is annexed.

Will the Minister of FINANCE be pleased to state:-
(a) whether there is huge shortage of staff, especially class 3 and 4, in the banks;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether there is any proposal to totally eliminate group 3 and 4 categories in these services and the same are proposed to be replaced by private agencies; and
(d) if so, the details thereof?
